Baby shower 101 was created for new moms, friends and family members who are going to throw the baby shower. I wanted to make a portal where everyone can go to get free content in helping make planning less stressful for everyone as well as add some creativity to the baby shower if needed. A key fact to remember is that you are throwing this party for a good friend, sister, daughter, or family member and that being with good friends and family is the biggest value of the party. It does not have to be over the top (unless that is the way the mommy-to-be likes it to be :) Just make sure to have a good time with memorable things planned for the party since the biggest value during the baby shower is friendship, love, and excitement of a new little one joining the community of friends and family!

Baby Shower Question of the Month: Is it proper etiquette to have a baby shower for a second baby. My daughters first baby who is now 16 months old is pregnant with her second, due the first of January. Also, would it be ok to somehow request gift cards? Of course she needs some girly things but I was also thinking in terms of booster seats, potty seats, etc. If she has gift cards, she can utilize them purchasing items that she could use for both kids. As most of us today, she and her honey are living paycheck to paycheck --- just barely. Baby Shower Answer of the Month: Thank you for your email. It is absolutely appropriate to have a baby shower for a second baby as it is a festive occasion. Gift cards are also a great baby shower gift and are definitely recommended in this soft economy where many are struggling, especially when having a baby! New Years Baby Shower If you are one of the lucky ones having a baby shower in January on or around New Years, there are so many wonderful ways to tie in the new year celebration! Below we have listed some of the more unique ideas for celebrating the baby shower new years: Incorporate the holiday season with new year decorations including poppers, baby shower confetti and father/baby time cutouts. Play the baby shower game of baby time and father time. Have everyone guess what time and date the baby will be born. Also have the father to be guess the time and give out baby shower gifts to who guessed the correct time and who guessed the same as the father to be (father time). Decorate with little clocks, baby shower streamers and horns. You can find a lot of baby time decorations, wall hangings and dolls to decorate the bringing in of the new year and new baby! Get party hats in the symbolic boy or girl color if you know the gender of the baby. Hand out chocolate or bubble gum candy cigars which adds to the festivities. Create a 2009 time capsule for everyone to give one memorable 2008 item that the baby-to-be can look at when they are older. Going green and going lean: For those who are trying to save during this economic downturn, it is great to create your own baby shower decorations and to use plain wrap or newspaper to wrap the baby shower gift as well as yarn to tie a bow. Use recycled paper in doing your share to save the environment. Look for coupons and plan the baby shower early, asking for a discount rate if you are having the shower at a restaurant or facility, as many are willing to do this in a downward market.
